Shri guru charan saroj raj
neej manu mukur sudhari ।
Baranu raghubar bimal jasu
jo dayaku phal chari ॥
I cleanse the mirror of my mind with the dust of my Guru’s holy feet and then sing the pure, spotless glory of Lord Raghurama, which bestows the fourfold fruits of life – righteousness, prosperity, desire-fulfilment and liberation.
Buddhi heen tanu janike
sumero pavan kumar ।
Bal buddhi bidya deu mohi
harau kales bikar ॥
Knowing my own weakness and lack of understanding, I remember (invoke) the son of the Wind. I humbly ask him to grant me strength, clear intellect and true knowledge, and to remove the stains of faults and suffering.

Jai Hanuman gyan gun sagar ।
Jai kapis tihu lok ujagar ॥01॥
Hail Hanuman, ocean of wisdom and virtue. Hail, O lord of monkeys, whose fame lights up the three worlds – heaven, earth and the nether regions.
Ram doot atulit bal dhama ।
Anjaani-putra pavan sut nama ॥02॥
You are Lord Rama’s messenger and the storehouse of incomparable strength. You are called the son of Anjani and the son of the Wind (Pavan).
Mahabir bikram Bajrangi ।
Kumati nivar sumati ke sangi ॥03॥
Great hero, courageous and strong like a thunderbolt – you dispel evil thoughts and are the companion of good sense and wisdom.
Kanchan baran biraj subesa ।
Kanan kundal kunchit kesa ॥04॥
Your body shines with a golden hue, and you are beautifully dressed – wearing earrings and with curly hair that adds to your splendour.
Hath bajra aur dhvaja biraje ।
Kaandhe munj janeu saje ॥05॥
You carry a thunderbolt and a banner the sacred moonj thread is worn across your shoulder – signs of your power and purity.

Born of Kesari and resembling Shiva in glory, your brilliance and mighty deeds are praised throughout the world.
Bidyavaan guni ati chatur ।
Ram kaj karibe ko aatur ॥07॥
You are learned, virtuous and exceptionally clever, always eager and ready to carry out Lord Rama’s work.
Prabhu charitra sunibe-ko rasiya ।
Ram Lakhan Sita maan basiya ॥08॥
You delight in hearing the Lord’s deeds Rama, Lakshman and Sita dwell in your heart – you are devoted and absorbed in their story.
Sukshma roop dhari Siyahi dikhava ।
Bikat roop dhari Lank jarava ॥09॥
You assumed a tiny form to appear before Sita and also a terrifying form to set Lanka on fire – using different forms wisely for different purposes.

In a terrible form you destroyed the demons and completed the tasks assigned by Lord Rama with great power and efficiency.
Laye sanjivan Lakhan jiyaye ।
Shri Raghuvir harashi ur laye ॥11॥
You brought the life-restoring herb (Sanjivani) and revived Lakshman Lord Raghurama embraced you with joy and gratitude.
Raghupati kinhi bahut badhaee ।
Tum mam priye Bharat-hi-sam bhai ॥12॥
Raghupati (Rama) praised you highly and said you are as dear to him as his brother Bharat – such was his love and esteem for you.
Sahas badan tumharo jas gaave ।
Asa-kahi Shripati kantha lagave ॥13॥
Thousands of mouths sing your glory, and hearing this, the Lord embraced you to his heart – your fame is sung by countless beings.

Narad-sarad sahit ahisa ॥14॥
Sages like Sanaka, Brahma and other great seers, along with Narad, Saraswati and even the serpent king, all praise and sing your virtues.

Even Yama, Kubera and the guardians of the directions, and the best poets and scholars, cannot fully describe your glory – it is beyond complete expression.

You leapt thousands of leagues to the sun, thinking it a sweet fruit and attempting to eat it – a playful but mighty feat showing your extraordinary power.

Jaladhi langhi gaye achraj nahi ॥19॥
